StormTech® Subsurface Chambers

StormTech® Subsurface Chambers

Underground detention/retention with serviceable first-flush control

StormTech systems combine arch-shaped polypropylene chambers, surrounding stone backfill (void space), engineered geotextiles and surface-level access to deliver large storage volumes in tight footprints. The Isolator Row PLUS captures the first flush and simplifies O&M (operation & maintenance).

Put storage below grade and keep the surface productive (usable).

Features & Benefits

First-flush interception

The Isolator Row PLUS with a woven fabric wrap and Flamp® end provides enhanced sediment capture and easier vactor cleaning — improving water quality upstream of the main field.

High capacity in a compact footprint

Mix and match SC-series (shallow, low cover) and MC-series (large volume) chambers to meet site constraints (constraints = design limits).

Rapid buildability (fast installation)

Clear installation guides define layers, acceptable stone, and sequence; chambers are simply placed without mechanical fasteners (fasteners = physical connectors).

Safe, surface-level maintenance

Inspection ports enable CCTV and vactor service without confined-space entry (confined-space = restricted access area).

Applications

Parking lots and retail, schools and sports fields, urban infill and redevelopment, industrial/logistics sites.

How it works
  • Detention mode: Inflow passes first through the Isolator Row PLUS, then into chamber rows and the stone voids; discharge is throttled by a flow-control manhole (flow-control = regulated outlet).
  • Infiltration mode: Open-bottom chambers and stone promote infiltration; if infiltration is not desired, the base can be lined (lined = sealed) to operate as a sealed detention bed.
Configurations & Accessories
  • Sizes/models: SC-160LP, SC-310, SC-740, DC-780, MC-3500, MC-4500 — selected by depth/cover and required storage (required storage = target volume).
  • Geotextiles: Woven fabric at the Isolator Row; non-woven geotextile at base/sides/top per the installation guide (per = according to).
  • Access & O&M: Inspection risers/ports, Flamp® end caps, service connections for jetting/vactoring (vactoring = vacuum cleaning).

Installation, Operation & Maintenance

Follow model-specific guides for trench prep, foundation stone, placement, embedment and final cover; material gradations are prescribed. Plan periodic Isolator Row maintenance based on site loading and permits.
